But if you already have a Sonos system in place and you want to make your ZonePlayer wireless range extend, what do you do to make this happen?
How Well Does the ZoneBridge Work?
The ZoneBridge is Sonos’ solution to this problem. This wireless bridge allows you to generate a wireless receiver and transmitter than can effectively link all your ZonePlayers together, but it includes internal jiggery pokery that makes it prioritize the audio traffic so that it is less likely to drop packets when compared to normal wireless extenders. Too much technical talk? All you really need to know is that it is simple to set up and it works near flawlessly with your existing equipment

Two Ethernet Ports
One side benefit of the Sonos ZoneBridge is that it has two Ethernet sockets on the back that let you connect wired network devices. This means that if you have wired network printers in your home you can easily give them an IP address and connect them to the ZoneBridge – mitigating the cost of expensive wireless receivers. So if you have a lot of wireless devices in your house such as NAS devices and the like, the Sonos provides an easy way to connect them up remotely as well as moving audio through your home.
Set Up
The small size of the unit is the first thing that you notice, and installation is straightforward – just plug it in and turn it on and it relays any wireless signals it detects. If you have problems with getting a strong signal in certain areas you should now find that the signal strength changes to strong right away. One thing that you will have to have in place on your existing controllers and players is a software version of 2.5 or greater – otherwise it won’t work full stop. So you may have to do a quick update if you have not already done so.
Overall
The Sonos ZoneBridge is such a simple and elegant solution to low signal coverage that it is hard not to recommend it. With such as easy and fast setup, results straight away, and the ability to plug in wired devices straight into the built in Ethernet sockets (which substantially adds value to the device), it seems Sonos has done everything right to keep the legion of Sonos owners happy.
