The basic starter set comes with two wireless speakers, the transmitter, and a remote control so that you can easily control the volume from afar. Since they are waterproof, these speakers are ideal for putting out in a wet area such as the back yard, and for playing music in the garden. With an advertised 150 foot range to this product, you would assume that you would be able to listen to your favorite music hassle free – but do the Audio Unlimited speakers live up to their claims?

The sound quality is very good on these speakers even though they are wireless. While the manufacturer claims that they can be used from 150’ away, you will most likely find that there is a slow gain in interference the further away the transmitter is from the speakers, so it is best to have the transmitter as close to the speakers as possible if you want perfect sound. The transmitter itself can take just about any audio signal from mp3 players, stereo systems, and so on which makes it very ubiquitous when it comes to what you want to play.

Installing

Setting up the speakers is pain-free, although you will firstly have to buy the correct batteries since none are included in the package, which seems like a strange oversight. Turn on the speakers and they instantly detect the transmitter and start to broadcast. For anyone who has tried to run speaker wire over any length of distance you will surely be relieved and happy. One point that is fairly annoying is that the speakers have different volume levels, so it can be hard to find a perfect balance to get them at similar levels, and also they can only go into standby remotely – if you want to fully power them off then you will have to visit each speaker independently – this can be annoying but since the speakers are normally close by it isn’t a major deal breaker.

There are plenty of additional accessories that work well with the audio unlimited accessories, such as shower players, waterproof floating bath speakers, and other speaker types including rock types. So if you are happy with the sound that comes from two speakers you can easily add on adding ones around the house. These add-ons are not that expensive either, so the default kit is a good base to start with.

If you are after good sound quality at a good price but are not expecting excellent audio for your backyard or garden then the Audio Unlimited wireless speakers are great. If you are an audiophile then you should look elsewhere – but be aware that higher end speakers come with an even higher end price tag!
